The Story Behind the Space, the Sound, and the Wayfinder Path.
There is a reason I never simply call what I do “just a sound bath.”
For me, these spaces have always been about more than relaxation alone.
They are about pause.
Return.
Grounding.
Reflection.
And gently helping people reconnect with themselves again.
My work through Authentic Self, the Wayfinder Programme, and my sound therapy sessions has grown from years of personal experience, spiritual practice, counselling work, and witnessing how overwhelmed modern life can leave people feeling.
Many people arrive carrying stress, emotional exhaustion, grief, burnout, nervous system overload, or simply the quiet feeling that they have lost connection with who they truly are.
That is where the work begins.
The Meaning Behind “Wayfinder”
The Wayfinder path is deeply inspired by themes connected to Elen of the Ways — the ancient archetype of pathways, intuition, the soul’s journey, and the unseen threads that guide us through life.
For me, Elen is not approached as religion or doctrine.
Instead, she represents:
- trusting the path even when it feels unclear
- learning to listen inwardly again
- reconnecting to instinct and intuition
- moving through transitions with awareness
- remembering that getting lost is sometimes part of finding ourselves
This energy quietly shapes the atmosphere of my sessions.
You will often notice:
- soft lighting
- grounding scents
- carefully placed instruments
- symbols of nature
- deer and antler imagery
- calming earthy tones
- a slower, gentler pace than the outside world offers
Everything is intentional.
The space itself becomes part of the healing.
Why I Personally Hold Sound Baths
I have always believed people need safe spaces where they can simply stop.
Not perform.
Not explain.
Not fix themselves.
Just breathe.
Over the years, I have worked with people from many walks of life:
- those experiencing stress and anxiety
- carers
- spiritual seekers
- people navigating grief or life change
- highly sensitive individuals
- those feeling emotionally overwhelmed or disconnected
Again and again, I saw the same thing:
People are exhausted from always being “on.”
Sound therapy offers something different.
The vibrations, tones, frequencies, and atmosphere can help gently guide the body into deeper relaxation states where the nervous system begins to soften and settle.
Many guests describe:
- feeling lighter afterwards
- sleeping better
- emotional release
- mental clarity
- deep calm
- feeling “reset”
- reconnecting to themselves again
Every experience is different, and no two sessions are ever exactly the same.
How I Set Up a Wayfinder Sound Bath Space
Preparation begins long before guests arrive.
I usually arrive early to slowly build the atmosphere intentionally and calmly.
The setup process matters deeply to me because people feel the energy of a space the moment they walk in.
Creating the Environment
I work carefully with:
- lighting
- room flow
- instrument placement
- grounding energy
- comfort
- warmth
- pacing
Soft warm lighting is often used to create a sense of safety and calm.
Mats are arranged with breathing space between guests so nobody feels crowded or overwhelmed.
The room is designed to feel welcoming rather than clinical.
The Instruments
I use a variety of instruments depending on the session and energy of the group, including:
- singing bowls
- chimes
- drums
- grounding percussion
- therapeutic sound instruments
- gongs at times
- voice and guided meditation
I do not approach sound therapy as simply “making noise.”
Each instrument affects the body and emotional state differently.
Some sounds help grounding.
Some help emotional release.
Some create spaciousness and reflection.
The journey is carefully paced.
Guided Meditation and Nervous System Support
Many of my sessions begin with:
- grounding exercises
- breath awareness
- progressive body relaxation
- visualisation work
- gentle meditative guidance
One recurring visualisation I use is imagining a warm, safe white light surrounding the body — helping guests feel protected, calm, and supported.
My background in counselling approaches and CBT-informed techniques also shapes how I hold space.
The work is always gentle and invitational.
Never forceful.
People are encouraged to simply experience whatever they need in that moment.
More Than Relaxation
Although many people attend for relaxation, the deeper intention of the work is reconnection.
The modern world constantly pulls attention outward.
The Wayfinder path invites people inward again.
To notice:
- what they are carrying
- what they are avoiding
- what they truly need
- where they may have drifted from themselves
Sometimes clarity arrives in stillness.
Sometimes healing begins simply by finally resting.
Small Groups by Design
One thing that matters greatly to me is maintaining the feeling of safety and personal connection within the sessions.
This is why many of my events remain intentionally smaller.
Smaller groups allow:
- better energetic flow
- deeper relaxation
- a calmer environment
- more personal attention
- a sense of trust within the room
I never wanted the work to feel rushed, impersonal, or performative.
The atmosphere matters just as much as the sound itself.
A Gentle Invitation
If you have been feeling:
- overwhelmed
- emotionally exhausted
- disconnected
- stuck
- anxious
- constantly “switched on”
- spiritually adrift
- or simply in need of pause
then perhaps this is your invitation to slow down for a while.
Not to become someone else.
But to reconnect with who you already are beneath the noise.
The path does not always appear all at once.
Sometimes it begins with simply lying down, breathing deeply, and listening.
